APF – ASSOCIATION FOR THE PROPAGATION OF THE FAITH

Collects money for the Missions via ‘red boxes’ principally retained in parishioners’ homes. New homes for a ‘red box’ and promoters, to empty a few twice a year, always welcome.

The celebration of Baptism is on the Second Sunday of the month at 12 noon (and if necessary at 1.45pm) or, by prior agreement, occasionally at a Sunday Mass. It is now the practice that parents who wish their child to be baptised attend a preparation course. Details in booklets ‘Information for the Baptism of Children’, available from the leaflet rack in the Narthex.

CAFOD

CAFOD is the Catholic Church’s own charity and raises money to help third world communities to support themselves. If you are interested or would like to help, please contact Lila.

CATENIANS
An international faith group for Catholic men of all ages and walks of life. It provides opportunities to develop new family friendships and/ or to network among those who also share a common Catholic ethos. Family is key – wives, parents, children or grandchildren can all take part in Circle life. Members meet on the second Thursday of every month at St Dunstan’s and enjoy dinner together in a warm and friendly atmosphere. New members are always welcome. CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD

Children have their own Liturgy of the Word at the 9:00am and 10:30am Sunday Masses. Children from the age of 3 to First Communion age are encouraged to participate in listening and responding to the Gospel. Adults and older teenager helpers would be welcomed for occasional sessions and much help, guidance and material is provided.

CHURCH CLEANING

Those who are at least 14 years of age on 1st September (Year 10) are eligible to celebrate this Sacrament and are invited to prepare by joining the parish programme, which starts in the Spring Term.

ECUMENICAL/CHURCHES TOGETHER IN WOKING.

Contact for all ecumenical (other churches & faiths) activity and Churches Together in in Woking – the local ecumenical forum through which Christians of different traditions work and pray together in order to share in their work and mission. Ministers and lay representatives of local Churches meet four times a year and events organised include a Good Friday Act of Witness, Lent discussion groups, Lent Lunches and Ecumenical Services during Christian Unity Week. Member Churches also unite to help the wider community (See www.ctiw.org.uk )

FILM CLUB

FINANCE COMMITTEE

FIRST RECONCILIATION & COMMUNION PREPARATION For more information, click here

The programme of preparation begins in the Autumn term. Children will have reached the age of seven by the 31st of August (Year 3 or above at school). Integral to the programme is help for parents who are the educators of their children in ‘the ways of faith’ – a responsibility which can only be shared by catechists.

GIFT AID

All tax-paying parishioners are encouraged to Gift Aid their weekly offertory and retiring collections which are for the benefit of parish funds. This enables the Church to increase the value of these collections by reclaiming tax on their value. Gift Aid donations can be made by standing order or special envelopes can be provided for weekly cash donations for the offertory and such retiring collections. All Gift Aid agreements are confidential.

MUSIC AND CHOIR

For those who enjoy singing and/or playing an instrument and are willing to attend 9:00am Sunday Mass. We get together from time to time for practice but there is no regular event. If you are interested in joining please speak to Kevin.

St Dunstan’s Choir meets on alternate Wednesdays at 7:30pm at St Dunstan’s Church for practice. For keen singers willing to attend 10:30am Sunday Mass and take part in other parish events. Please contact Claire if you would like to join.

A team of singers and musicians lead the singing. Rehearsals from 5 pm and on various (but minimal) occasions to prepare for liturgical feasts. If you would like more information please call Stephen.

NEEDLES AND CRAFT

The role of the Safeguarding Officer is to work with vulnerable groups to ensure a safe environment for all concerned. It is also the point of contact for all allegations of abuse of children or adults at risk and offers assistance and advice to survivors and victims of abuse.

The Parish Conference meets on alternate Wednesdays in the Library at 7:30pm. Members visit the elderly, sick, and individuals or families in need; assist with the York Road Project (which aids local homeless); contribute to SVP work for the poor in India, Sudan and a number of other countries, as well as elsewhere in England and Wales
